I fished from shore a couple of times this week on my way home from work. The first was over at Lake Basile. I was there around 3:45pm and fished for 45min. On my first cast a big gust of wind came up and blew my wacky senko into a tree at the edge of the shoreline. I was like WTF!! This guy was there walking his dog and even said, "That can't be a good omen". lol...so I pulled the line and broke it off.
I decided to switch over to a T-rigged creature bait and I ended up getting three small bass. Like I said...nothing huge but three quick ones. (Didn't have a camera with me)
Then, yesterday I decided to check out Barber Pond to see what was going on over there. The fishing had gone south for a while because of a "presumed" fish kill during the bad winter we had a couple of years back. I decided to use some worms that I had never tried before but I got them as a gift for Christmas. They were the luck-e-strikes with a curly tail. I T-rigged one and started casting. On my second or third cast I reeled in a decent 1lb 13oz LMB
Quick pic and weigh in and then I started looking for another one. Not long after I reeled in another decent 1lb 15oz LMB
I was glad to see the fat bellies on these two fish. Seems like the fish are coming back. I was also glad to have another productive 45min fishing session. Guess the bite is on right now in the smaller ponds. |

Don't worry, Derek, you'll break the two pound barrier one day. . . . _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
