Fished the housy yesterday for most the day. fished O'sullivans,, derby dam, and Stratford. Stratford wasn't looking too promising as I spoke with a fellow Ctft member and he was telling me how things were going. derby dam was quiet saw herring but only got 1 bite on a bloodworm
I mainly focused at the north housy area. LOTS of fisherman throughout the day most throwing plugs and plastics I did not see 1 fish landed off a topwater plug
I threw a 7 inch gibbs walked the dog to no avail. also threw a 9 inch black sluggo no takes.
switched over to bait on a fishfinder rig 2-4 oz of weight we caught about 10 schoolies up to 20'' at dead low tide 2:30 PM went to get more bait where we ran around to the other spots then returned t o the northern housy at night 730 pm. the action became fast as I coulnt keep two rods in the water LOTS of schoolies and got 1 keeper bass at 28'' 7 Pounds. the two guys next to us landed a 32'' and lots of schoolies as well. we were all usuing worms (sand and Blood) we left at 930 bc we ran out of worms and I was tired and had a 1hr drive plus cleaning the fish lol. but it was very fast action after dark. lots of pluggers at dark but again no takes from what I observed. so I didn't bother switching over to lures with the action on bait. I think I would have liked to have an eel or a chunk on 1 rod to sort of weed out the lil guys bc they were thick. but reguardless there out there!! didn't see any see lice on any fish though so not sure about holdover vs. migratory. 1st pic is the keeper bass followed by a picture of what we mostly caught all day
I would have liked to have gotten into fish on the surface but I don't have a bucket full of colors and sizes on hard baits. I think a 5inch silver rapala would have produced some of the smaller schoolies.

Good job, you stuck by using bait and got rewarded with some good action. Hopefully with the next full moon and warmer temps we'll get more herring to move upriver and trigger the top water action. |

You guys should try not telling everyone where you are Catching fish. General idea like housy is fine but naming the specific spot not such a great idea! You may find yourself not being able to fish it next time due to crowds. Others gave fished all around yo find the fish and then someone gets told on a forum and suddenly 100 people are in that spot tomorrow! Let the people do their own leg work! _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

I have read hundreds of fishing reports on here and have never chased someone's report because they are catching fish, I find it hard to believe that people will waste there time and gas doing that. It could be possible that other people are privy to the location we fish at and know the times and seasons when the fishing picks up. I like to give people the benefit... _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

"Hey iverson, tell me exactly where you'll be fishing next and what time. I'm gonna hit it up before you" said no one ever on this forum |

yeah...i fish very popular spots away from my home location in enfield plus there was allready like 100 guys there. i have 1 thing alot of people dont.. patience. alot of times ill wait for 5 hours for a fish meanwhile ive seen over 40 new faces. i use the freshest baits which alot of times nets me more or bigger fish.. heck if a bunch of people fished where i was at least id have good conversation plus id be popular as "that guy who got the keeper" haha tight lines guys |

@iversonbaby: that's what I called an unselfish fisherman. It feels good when you reeling the fish and all eyes on you and ran to check how big the fish is. _________________ Something smells fishy. |

I think unselfish fishing use to be the motto for most folks but I guess times have changed, I actually like helping other people and seeing other people catch fish, what's the big deal? _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

I agree and disagree. I know exactly what you mean but that place is 1 of the only places not too far from where I live so when I go to the point there and there are 8 people wading there which in case you dont know doesnt leave any room for anyone else and they have out of state plates or all the people are from the other side of the state and such it kind of sucks! People do read these reports and drive here, how do I lknow, because Ive asked people how they found this place and its almost always "I heard about it on a forum". Im not saying its you or Jo Shmoe or even CTFishtalk, just saying it sucks when I cant fish the place right near me because someone blabbered it all over the internet, its called Spot Burning! _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....

Wade, you're gonna have to get some long waders and a set of sheetrocker stilts. |

.....
It's the information age -> Actually there are no secret public fishing holes anymore ! ..... Only private waters can be called secret !
Besides -> It all depends on how knowledgeble a fisherman is and how skilled he is !

Shore access is another thing. I find the Housatonic has better shore access than the CTR. Member gkolyagin has said that too. |
