Member mikeyinstfd (Mike) and I hit the Mill River in Fairfield Monday. First we went to the TMA and arrived around 10:45am.
The bite was pretty good. Trout were stacked and they were hitting just about anything. Mike stuck with a Berkley Gulp Worm and Power Bait. Had a lot of hits and fish circling and landed 2 rainbows and a nice brown.
I played around with a few Rapalas, which included hot mustard muddler Flat Rap FLR-6, glass minnow Husky Jerk HJ-6, glass ghost X-Rap XR-6, hot mustard muddler X-Rap XR-4, and purple sunfire Husky Jerk HJ-6. Retrieve that had them going was giving it a few jerks before pausing for up to 3 seconds. They were swiping are it and hitting it on the pause. Landed 2 rainbows and 2 browns. Also got a yellow perch.
Later the bite seemed to die off so we headed down to Riverside Park. Nothing was happening down there except for what seemed like sunnies tapping Mike's Gulp Worm.
Next stop was the Pequonnock in Trumbull where I was hitting them Sunday. Both of us didn't land anything or set the hook on anything but had followers and a few hits.
Hit the road just before 5pm |
