went and fished milford over behind the library in the marina for some blackbacks. fished from 330pm till 7 pm. high tide was scheduled for 8
fishfinder rigs 1oz lead and sandworms and cherrystone clam were baits used on no.4 charlstown "flounder" hooks. also chummed with the cherrystones freshly cracked. I fished from shore.
Got 1 small flounder at 8 inches (didn't bother with a picture) released it obviously and got 2 hits after that but no dice. as the tide was coming in there seemed to be some sort of baitfish in the water as the gulls were circling over us and some very small breaks in the water were visable in front of us. water is like 4-7 feet deep there and muddy. weather was great slight south wind up to 10mph.
seems like the warmer weather will push the flats a bit harder and get them a lil more aggressive...since the stripers weren't in the river yet I figured why not give flounder a try by the time the flats are in thick ill be closer to home fishing for the linesiders. will be fishing the CT tomorrow north of Hartford will post a report as well. Hope this helps anybody. I think the chumming with cherrystones gave us a shot of at least a bite today I feel that with some time you could limit out with the right luck haha. |

Love winter flounder, My father use to take me out with him when I lived in South Jersey. That was before they put a limit on size and how many you could keep. The last ones I caught were in Old Saybrook about 10 years ago. |
