Where was the sun?! It was a bit chilly, windy and overcast
Went out anyway. I wasn't getting any action it seemed today. I tried the chanteuse pepper minnow, Berkeley pumpkin worm, X Rap, and shad rap. Nothing what so ever. I moved down to the third clearing along the train tracks. The wind was picking up and the clouds seemed darker. Tied a a Flat Rap in a brown trout pattern. Slow pause and retrieve was the trick along the shore line and got the big hit. It was a STRONG fish! 14" 1.5lb LMB... Which sadly is my PB! Lol it was all worth it.
My excitement shows |

I love the brown trout flat rap omg. But the favorite might be flat rap perch (in areas that have a ton of perch) in the larger size. Nice bass, that crazy flash of the flat rap is so inticing.
Why is every day i go out its windy like wtf this aint chicago?! |

Erickmon, everyday I set out to the water it's blowing! So irritating because my lure is blowing away and my hands are getting chapped like leather. I'm just thankful I've been lucky enough to catch at least one fish each outing |

Brown Trout and Perch are my best colors when it comes to the size 6!
Brown Trout has caught tons of trout in stocked streams and gets lazy browns to hit if nothing else works. When fishing certain areas of Twin Brooks Park, Perch comes handy whenever their's a combination of bass, pickerel, and perch around. Both colors come in handy in larger rivers that hold a combination of fish, such as the Farmington and Naugy. Brown Trout FLR-6 was outdoing spinners and spoons on the Naugy last year when catching smallies!
I've had tons of luck with the FLR-8 in pearlescent patterns while catching largemouths later in the evening during the summer. Good imitation of alewives! |
