|
Fished a local TMA river and started my trout season off on the right foot. Total of 4 trout, 3 I caught, 1 my friend caught (his first trout too!). 2 of them were certain stocked fish and the other 2 were hard to tell. All browns. The two that were hard to tell were larger and wilder too which was a great sign. Caught them all on my homemade spinners with a fly covering the hook. I also had many trout chase my lure and turn last second. All in all great day had lots of fun and cant wait to get back at it again.

I prefer fishing trout than bass because of a few things. 1) You need to be smart with what you do, trout are smart and if you make a shadow over the water they will spook and not feed. 2) You need to present the lure/bait very well so that means light line, small hooks, and you need the fly to look insect like. 3) They fight really well. They fight like its life or death (which it is most of the time). Best way i can describe it is a dog shaking its head when youre playing tug of war with a toy.
I dont really like fishing for bass but fishing is fishing and is fun whenever you do it. Bass dont really seem to care and will eat anything they can fit in their mouths so its easier to catch them. Im sure someone will argue that bass are better than trout. |

I have only caught a couple trout since fishing for the last 10-11 years, and those were stocked in the lake, they kinda felt like reeling in a perch. But your right about bass eating anything. I have made a fair attempt many times to catch trout but they seem to be very elusive _________________ "Come after Me, and i will make you to become fishers of men"

Nice browns!
If trout weren't as smart and there was a good population along the local TMA, then I'd be fishing there more often than the ice out pond! |
