So we went down to the housy yesterday. put in at O'Sullivan's (under rt
the wind wasn't too bad at the time and water temp was 42. we looked around by the mouth of the naughy and didn't see or mark anything. kept heading south and marked a bunch of stuff north of the gravel pits, and got 3 schoolies there. We moved down by sunnyside (BEWARE they are now checking for permits) there was a pack of kayaks. they said that they hadn't got much. as i was marking a small group of fish we hooked up a 20" but decided to keep going south.
Ended up going all the way down past the merrit bridge as the wind was howling 20mph at least.
Water temp had risen to 43 and marked a few groups of fish so we hung out with the 2 other boats and tried jigging. we had to anchor because of the wind.
It seemed to work for us as we boated 10 or 11 schoolies. nothing spectacular
but made the trip and the beating we took worth while. Well...it"s better than nothing!
Even the ride back up was brutal. We took a break in the cove by the dump and marked a pile of fish in there. So we trolled up 7 more schoolies then called it quits. One thing that always amazes me is how skinny the water gets
at that launch on a low tide.
