I went out for a few hours on the river. Two trees and a snow bank have been blocking my town's ramp this winter. I cut up the trees with my Stihl chainsaw and shoveled out the snow bank.

Water temp was 35 degrees. I hit a few Walleye holes and found one just jammed with 'eyes. There were so many I could feel the lures bumping into them, yet nothing showed on the sonar. I ended up catching 24, and lost at least twice that number. Walleyes were in 30-40' and all hit jigs and blade baits. One of the males was ready to spawn, leaking milt. Here are some of them. Nobody wanted to go fishing today, so I had to take my own pictures.

Sweet! TurtleKiss (aka Kira) and I checked out the stretches of the Connecticut River from the Baldwin Bridge to Hamburg Cove and from the Bissell Bridge to the mouth of the Farmington River. We marked only one fish with the finder in Hamburg Cove. ONE! Confused Although we marked perhaps a dozen widely scattered fish with the finder near the mouth of the Farmington and downriver from a submerged wall in the Connecticut, we never saw more than one at a time and the ones we saw were totally disinterested in what we were throwing.

After catching walleye for the first time last year I have an extreme obsession for them. After seeing this post I SERIOUSLY cannot wait for Batterson to open up.

Farmington/New Britian line, it's a stocked lake but not very popular for eyes since the closed season deters fishing for them in peak periods(like the whole winter) Crying or Very sad a total waste of allocated stocking money Rolling Eyes

I've caught only one walleye in the Connecticut River, just downriver from the Vibert Road boat launch ramp in South Windsor. I thought they might hold in the deep water that's downriver from the submerged wall just upriver from the ramp, but they weren't there. Well, today, at least. Wink

I found it best to go to Batterson as early in the season as possible. I followed Peco's advice and trolled rapala's around the pond but its harder to do later in the season when the weeds grow in.

Walleye near Hartford?!?! Great.......now I have another trip to check off my never ending list of places to try.

how far up in Mass on the river do you usually fish? I have a perfect river walleye boat (16ft Sylvan sport troller) and need to get out on the water.

I fish the whole thing over four states. If you tried to go where I went the other day with no knowledge of the "channel" , rocks and gravel bars you would total your lower unit and prop.
