what size wader should i get, since i have never owned any of them, pretty much confused about the size. I see a lot on the internet that are more reasonable in price.


I'm like 5,8 in height and my shoes are like 8 lol !

totally confused!

Im a big kinda guy so nothing beats trying them on first ...just because the feet fit dont mean the legs will . I would take a ride to cabelas in hartford try a few pair on find what feels the best for you, wear fluffy socks and thick pants so you know you can get warm cloths on under them . Then decide where to go from there

Sona, I agree with the rest, you have to try them on. I'm 5'5 with a size 8 shoe and different waders that should be the same basic size all fit me differently, especially in the shoe area. Some people prefer the waders with the footies that you put the boots over, others like the boots as an integral part of the pants legs.

My Cabela's breathable waders developed a leak in September after owning them for a couple months. It was my fault, because I wasn't careful while scrambling around on rocks. They replaced them no questions asked. I asked what happens if these ones leak, and they told me to just save the receipt.

Their stockingfoot waders are nice; I got the Dry Plus with their wading boots as a package. Cost less than 200 bucks. The felt sole boots come with spaces to screw in the included cleats. They kept me from slipping on weed covered rocks without the aid of Korkers. They do let some sand into the shoe if you're wading on a beach.

I am 5'11" and 230 lbs, and these waders in a size large fit with enough room to fit several layers underneath for cold weather.

Just ask your wife, gf/other if these waders make your ass look big.

Realistically, probably need a 9-10 shoe size. Unless you're skinny, go with stout. A wading belt will take care of the rest. Worst thing in the world for cold feet is to have them crammed into boots. If you plan to wear them in the cold, leave room in the toes and for a lot of walking, go for the stocking foot with good boots. As others have said, it's best to try on some brands at Cabelas, etc., to see how they fit. Then shop around. They are all different. I just bought a pair of Hodgeman's Guide Pro booted waders on closeout. They are on closeout for a reason. The boots pinch like hell at the ankles, and I dare anyone to bend down in them with the wading belt where they placed the loops, regardless of how skinny you are. I've got Cabelas 5mm neoprene lugged that I can wear in the winter, and two pair of breathables. I don't think I'll every buy neoprene again as even on the coldest days, they are damp as hell when you remove them (but warm all day - day 2 sucks). With base layers on, I can fish the breathables in single digit temps as well. I would spend the extra $20-$30 bucks to try them on first, or stick with brands that I know fit. Good luck.

I had good luck with Cabela's as well. A pair of the lighter material stockinged waders started leaking a year after I had them, I suspected it may have been my fault from being sort of rough with them. They replaced them, no questions asked.
