|
|
Hi,
Just came across this !
New Pike rig dreamed up by the Mid-west boys !
Holds your big dead bait horizontally and the small center hook is for a live shiner which acts as an added attractor -> colorful also.
They're called "Gator Whackers".
Looks ease enough to make (or close to) yourself, if you have/find the components.
Go to www.dakotalakestackle.com
Click on painted lures then #9 and #10

Look pretty cool but i know that stuff gets expensiveeee. I bought a custom spinnerbait rig made for canadian anglers and it was like 8$. Im guessing this has to be close to 10$ as well. _________________ YouTube Channel: NorthEastFisherman |

I would not fish that, I always stay more natural with my baits |

Hi pp,
Yeah! ...I hear ya !
The idea though of the center small hook to lip hook a small live shiner as an attractor is pretty neat !
The struggles of the shiner plus the fresh scent they put out would defintely be a plus.

very unique idea....the different colors are a nice attractant and hook placement leaves little margin for error....I wonder if the hooks are strong enough though - nonetheless...I like it |

Hi,
Yeah! ....Well those Mid-west fellows have been fishing and spearing Pike long long before Pike were ever introduced to New England waters, especially Ct.
I'd pretty much bet that they have a very good handle on Pike fishing and all the various techniques possible..and that is historic fact!

I bet if you replaced the 2 treble. hooks with small single hooks you would have a pretty cool jig to bait with what ever.??Add a weight to the middle? I may have to try. _________________ ...Randy...

Looks like an interesting idea.
Jann's Netcrafters is a good one for parts.
I live in CT but am from MN. Coming up with new fishing lures, designs, colors, patterns, etc is good fun. No reason in the world why something you can figure out your own self might not out fish something you buy- whether it be as simple as tricking out a jig with a little buck tail or as fancy as carving a pike lure from an old broom handle. It's all good. |
