After last nights "party" wth my friends my dad and i decided to wake up around 9 and stay localish for todays ice fishing trip. We originally wanted to go to west lake reservoir but after realizing all the work itd be to set up tipups, sound them, change leaders, and all that stuffw ejust decided to jig it today. Went to a different reservoir that some of you know about Wink and jigged from 11 to 330. We spent like an hour at the tackle shop talking to the new valley angler owner about some ice fishing things. When we got there we noticed not one little tiny footprint in the snow. It was awesome looking. Drilled our first hole and checked it with the camera and saw a sunny. Decided to try jigging there and wait for the school and got nothing. So i decided to chase some crappies out in a sandy flat. They were suspended about 4ish feet off bottom. Caught one 12'' crappie after about 20mins of checking holes. Then kept drilling and searching until my dad got a sunny. Kept searching and i found another school. Managed to get a 13'' crappie this time. This one hit pretty hard especially since i just picked my jig up off bottom. Went to the opposite side of the reservoir and jigged near a fallen tree and my dad got another sunny. I wanted to go back to our original spot so i took my stuff and jigged and found a school of perch. Caught two 12'' perch until i lost the school and then when my dad joined me he found another school and he managed to pick up 4 12''-13'' perch. Kept fishing and ended the day with another 13'' crappie and 13'' perch. The fish fought really well and im just glad to be near the home this time instead of driving more than an hour to fish. Ice was 7.3inches and all of my fish were caught on a bros bug tipped with an atomic fry and my other jig was a blue tail gold sparkle maribou jig tipped with two mealworms. Pretty good day since we werent using tip ups or minnows. Tomorrows trip is at hatch pond in kent ct. Our main species are going to be LMB, Calicos, and some yellow perch. It was pretty cold today so lets hope for a little warmth! Tight lines everyone.

Nice job!

Tomorrow it's supposed to warm up with warmer temps remaining throughout the week.
