Fished Oxford reservoirs yesterday morning (1-5-13)
4.5" of ice though there was one corner of lake that was quite thin.
on tip-ups - 2 LMB with the biggest at 21". couple of pickerels and a couple yellow perch.
Jigging - a dozen yellow perch, but all small.

will add pics after i reach my 3 post minimum

Were you fishing Seymour Reservoirs? If so, which one were you fishing and what was the access like with your gear?

yes, Seymour reservoirs - off of rt 42. I always mistakenly call them oxford reservoirs, i guess since they are in oxford. I fished #2 but it's a little bit of a hike in there. #4 has the easiest access and a lot of pan fish. supposedly there was a pike caught in #4 a few years ago. Have caught some nice LMB in #4 during the summer but none yet during the winter

thanks dawg.

x182dan - 2 winters ago i was visited by a DEP officer on the ice at those reservoirs at least 6 different times. he was the one that told me of the pike, that his supervisor saw fish or saw picture. not saying it's a fact, just passing on what i had heard (from a pretty reputable source).

A guy once caught a northern pike at Batterson Park Pond, a 38 incher, I think. The story made it into the New Britain Herald. Heck, I caught a 16 inch smallmouth bass at my local one acre trout pond a couple of years ago. And look at Beseck. The yellow perch there look an awful lot like northern pike to me. Laughing The bucket biologists are always hard at work. Wink

Honestly I don't believe it. Someone once told me a story similar to yours about the pike picture and the dep officer told this guy that there were stocking the res with pike. Said all the pike were in #4 all the way in the back blah blah blah. I didn't believe him so i called the dep for the heck of it and they said no way they'd never stock a place like that. The only way a pike got in there would be if someone put it in there which i guess is possible. BTW nice bass I used to fish that place a lot in the summer but if you ask me its has gone downhill a lot since a couple years ago.

If somebody else and I were to bring 1 sled with gear in it and need to carry a bait bucket to the ice before putting it in the sled, any troubles as for hills or distance with #4?

Michael,
#4 is really easy to get onto with a sled. It's a short walk from the parking spot to the dirt dam.
