I've been fishing along the ct coast for years now but usually for stripers or blues. I'm thinking about trying for some blacks this yr. I've never tried for them in this area. Anyone have any suggestions of where to try for them, the Groton/ Niantic area is closest to me willing to travel as far as Lyme. |

I've never caught any before, but Avery Point and Eastern Point Beach in Groton are supposed to be decent places. |

Are you fishing from shore or a boat? |

If you don't mind walking a bit, or a possible crowd,(but with the cold weather coming there shouldn't be any) head over to Harkness State Park . Crabs & sandworms, even clams might be worth trying.
Good luck & post how you do if you go.

If you're shore fishing I too was going to recommend Harkness . Lots of blackfish are caught there every year. If you're boat fishing I would say go to Hatchetts Point. |

Fished around black point yesterday in a boat for black fish - used green crabs and killed it. Went with one other buddy and we hit our limit within 2 hours. Then we went over to try for some porgy, but we couldnt find them. Saw a guy pull in a 40" striper though (wish that was us...). Overall, great day on the water. |

They were blackfishing then caught their limit and decided to troll wire a bit so they left. What they were trolling exactly i have no idea, but whatever it was produced a 40" striper I wish that was me |
