Fished from 5:15pm- 7pm today 10-11-12. After trying a couple lures I decided to try a swimmer(bunker looking, which has produced 0 fish before today, but hardly used).
First cast after I switched lures and spots, using the swimmer, bam fish on! I was surprised to see it was 28" keeper striper!!! One cast later bam, another one, this one a couple inches bigger at 30"!!! Caught both bass with in the first 20min I was fishing. Its hard to take pics while waist deep in water with rod, reel, fish, and camera, did the best I could.

Nice job man. Swimmers always produce big fish for me in nj but haven't really tried them that much here in milford. No gators?

I have a Gibbs pencil but I haven't used it because its big and all summer the fish have only been hitting small lures. Also I haven't seen any bunker where I've been fishing and I feel like the pencil mimics big bail like bunker. Maybe now that the bigger fish are here, maybe I should give it a try.

Been getting fish on pencils all season Chris. Doesnt really matter if you throw them around bunker. Give it a shot and make sure you familiarize yourself on how to work one if you don't already know. You can find how to vids on the web if you need to.
Good luck.

Cool, I watched a video of them nailing stripers with pencils, I guess keep the tip up, hold/guide the line on the rod, and bounce your lure up and down a a fast rate, wait until you feel the weight of the fish, then set. Am I missing anything important? I'll give it a try, Thanks for the advice, I didn't know you could use them all summer!

also if I can put my 2 cents in here... First u need the right rod... U want one with a longer but that u can really squeez well between ur legs... Also u want a fast action tip with good wip.. Last u neeeeed to reel slowly while whipping your tip violently, just fast enough to keep good contact with your lure, also u do not want to firm of a grip on the rod as your hand will cramp from the physicaly demanding aspect of this technique... Last as long as your hookes are sharp all you need to do is lean back on the rod and keep good presure thoughout the fight. Hope this helps
