I was able to get out on Friday morning and wanted to try the river in the Portland area.
The fishing was kind of slow and the river was muddy except close to the shoreline.

I was able to pick up a smallmouth on a tube, not too big.

Not too long after that I got a 26 inch pike on a lipless crankbait

The last fish of the day was a largemouth on a lipless crankbait..

A few fish for a couple hours of fishing.
I also took a quick ride to the Mattabasset but it was very muddy and had no action at all.

Yes, that's where I was getting bites. Along the weed line, close to the shore.

I also fished part of the CT river on Friday (Wethersfield cove) and it was also extremely slow. Got on the water at around 5pm and got off at 6:30pm when it got dark. The water was the calmest i've seen in a long time and shiners were jumping everywhere on the surface. I threw a wacky senko and CNC-53 rapalas in silver shad, perch, and red crawdad. Nothing but a couple medium sized white perch...
