After TurtleKiss (aka Kira) and I saw the newly paved and still taped off boat launch ramp at Batterson Park Pond, we decided to head down to Middlefield and fish Beseck Lake, instead. We got on the water at the State Boat Launch Ramp at 7:00 pm, just as the real darkness began to fall. The air was already chilly and the water temperature was 63 degrees. I pedaled The Other Woman and Kira motored around in Dinghbat. We headed down the east shore to the dam I trolled a Yellow Perch Rapala Jointed Shad Rap JSR05 and threw a white five inch slow sinking Sebile Magic Swimmer toward the shore. I went all the way down to the dam without a hit. After I saw how murky the water was in the light of my headlamp, I swapped out the Magic Swimmer for a black Strike King Midnight Special. As the full moon rose in the east, I worked away from the dam and back into the main body of the lake. I got nothing. Kira suggested heading across to the beach on the west shore of the lake. It trolled the Yellow Perch JSR05 and a Perch Rapala Jointed Shad Rap JSR07. Although I marked a couple of fish on my fish finder, I didn't get even a nibble. As the air temperature rapidly fell, I started to get a little bit cold. I headed up the west shore to the shallow cove on the north end of the lake, where swans and ducks were spending the night along the shore. At 9:15 pm, Kira texted me that she had caught another anchor with a slow rolled spinnerbait Laughing :

As I threw the Midnight Special over the weeds in the cove, I almost hit a swan that was floating in the darkness toward the middle of the lake. Shocked By this time, I would normally have tied on my crappie rig to just catch a fish. Any fish. But I was freezing cold, so I really didn't care about the skunk on the boat. I sent a text message to Kira asking whether she would rather be eating chicken wings, drinking beer and watching football somewhere. Now, Kira doesn't like or even understand why people like football but, to my surprise, she said, "Yes." Very Happy We headed off of the water at 10:00 pm, without either of us having gotten a bite. But I got to catch most of the fourth quarter of the Chicago Bears' shellacking of the Dallas Cowboys at Chicago Sam's Sports Bar & Grille in Cromwell. Bear down, Chicago Bears! Whoo Hoo! Very Happy

Here's the 10 pound Danforth anchor that Kira caught in the Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Plant Canal on 09/12:

She's acquiring quite a collection. Laughing

I hope I haven't unintentionally discovered a statewide epidemic.
FYI: for an anchor to be effective, both ends of the rope need to be attached to something.
