I haven't had much luck lately and i was looking for a place with a good chance of getting some fish. Whether it be snappers or schoolies. Just looking for a coastal location that has been pretty good lately. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Been getting snappers everywhere still, was getting them on the west haven pier yesterday.

What were you using to get them?

I caught a good amount of snapper blues yesterday as well. Small trout lures work well, anything with flash and action. Kastmasters and phoebes are classics. They'll also hit bits of shrimp and silversides/shiners.

Ok thank you ill be sure to try some of those. I tried a kastmaster a few days ago and had no takes on it in 2 and a half hour. Had no idea what else to use because it never fails. Where were you fishing from?

Yeah for some reason the phoebe didnt work at all but the kastmaster killed! The kid next to me was doing even better with a bobber attached in front of the kastmaster and popping it!

I outdo everybody else with the Rapala Husky Jerk HJ-6 and Rapala X-Rap XR-6. Constant jerking gets them to hit with a few doubles.

Beaches, piers, and shoreline parks with deep water right at shore out your way around Madison, Westbrook, and Old Saybrook should be good spots. Try heading to the mouth of the CTR where there's some sandbar or rocky point.

Haha that's a little unorthodox but whatever works i guess. Its amazing how anything catches those fish

okay thanks i might do some bouncing around from park to park over the weekend and try to find some fish.hopefully its not as difficult as its been in the pat for me

BTW- Snappers like to head into quiet channels and coves too. If you see any marshy areas that have a small canal or channel that feeds into the Sound, that's another good spot.

Yeah i have tried a few coves and channels this year but i haven't had much luck.i don't think I'm hitting the tides and times of day right

Last 2 hours of incoming and first 2 hours of outgoing in a channel or cove is the best time. Snappers are more active during the middle of the day compared to the adults.

Yeah ive been fishing in late afternoon early evening so i guess thats where im going wrong. Thanks for all the tips and advice it has been very helpful for me and i can't wait to get out there and give it a shot.
