Hi,
Took a ride up to Colebrook Res. today and along the west side shore road.
Resevoir is very low and the old steel bridge is totally exposed and high and dry.
Put my truck in 4x4 and went down the gravel road and parked by the bridge.
There where about 5 people fishing.
2 young fellows where having a ball catching and releasing smallmouth bass one after another on live shiners -> (1-2 lb. range)
I tried jigging off the bridge (4# test NanoFil and 1/4 ounce green paddletail jig)) and hit into a big school of red-eye rock bass.
Caught over 2 dozen in under an hour.
They where of real good size and very strong fighters !
Lots of fun !
We all saw some big fish make huge surface swirls/splashes farther out.
No idea what they where, but I'm assuming they may be Pike.
Going to catch some Golden Shiners and go back tomorrow and try my luck at Pike !

i'm glad to see that you're fishing, Stephen. I've been thinking about checking out Colebrook while the water is still low. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

Hi Phil,
I've been fishing all summer -> For you know what !
Did very well this year and have 3 dozen frozen (in water) packs for the winter.
Gave away a lot to friends and family since these fish are not the kind you C & R -> Have only a 3-4 year life span.
Also smoked up dozens of fillets.
Much also given to friends and family.
Now it's time for me to switch to fall Crappies, Spawning Browns, and Pike.
Also getting my ice fishing gear ready -> Hope we have a better season this year !

Hi DD,
Nope ! -> Just a lucky fluke running into that school.
Besides, Phil earned the title thru hard work and lots of funny faces !
He's still the "Master Red-Eye Killer"
LOL

Hi,
Yes! I saw 3 boats on there -> But not sure where at the boat ram area they launched at.
Dry land extends quite some distance from the bottom of the ramp and there is a drop off right at the waters edge.
Would suggest you walk the area and look for tire marks to see where they put in -> and be very careful
