After a slow week since I got back to back, a keeper striper and a 27" blue. The blues were few and far between, with one here and two there, until tonight!

I had maybe the best bluefish action of the year, all using topwater poppers! Awesome!
You know its good fishing from shore, when there were 3 boats that followed me up and down the coast while I was catching fish! At one point they were either videotaping me or the fish, guess I'll check utube, lol
I ended up catching 7 nice blues all around 24". It took a long walk out and we had to wade through deep water on the long return, and it took a little while until I found the popper they wanted and then it was on. A new one I just picked up. I chased the school of blues along and caught multiple fish in 3 different spots. The jumping was great today and they kept smashing my popper right in front of me.
My son also caught his first couple saltwater fish by lure doing it 100% by himself. His catches including the smallest black sea bass I have ever seen.

There's nothing more exciting than to catch Blues on a pooper. It really gets the blood running. Laughing

That's why I love Fishing!
Especially topwater action!
And that's why lately, past several weeks, I have basically fished all topwater-maybe even missing out on a few fish, because I enjoy it so much more than other ways of catching. The jumping out of the water and smashing my lure is second to none.

Sounds like an awesome night. I haven't been out in the salt for about a month Sad It seems like the action is picking up all over the place.
