Went home to Rhode Island and finally got my new kayak in the water. Not a bad way to pop the boats cherry. Not sure on the weight but im fairly certain that this is a new PB for me, she was a monster. Also had 4 or 5 large mouths that were smaller and also hit the biggest pickerel of my life that day too. The pickerel was so big i thought that it was a pike when i first saw it.
The bass was reallllly chunky and was longer than the opening in my kayak. Any guesses on weight?

Did you at least get the length? Based on the size of the mouth and the chunky belly, I'd guess that she was pushing six pounds. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

It can be sooo hard to tell the size of a fish from that type of picture just because the placement of the lense can vary how big or small the fish looks of how fat it is. That is why fishing alone stinks and when I do I paddle ashore and find a person to take a picture for me. Anyways I loved your way of saying you broke in your new yak. Thats my kind of humor. All in all its a great fish and it has a big ol' belly that based on your description I'll be was at least 5 pounds based on the hand to mouth size ratio. I'll bet it was funny getting him in the yak though it always is. Great fishing! _________________ You know it was a good day when your thumb is all scratched up. |

its a nice fish but I dont think its 5-6lbs. It looks more like 3.5-4 to me. The mouth on a 5lb bass would be much bigger You could put your fist in it. Its definitely not 6.
A 3.5lb bass is a nice fish up here. I hate taking pictures of fish myself, they always come out looking smaller because of perspective.

She is def. a fatty nice job! You cannot possibly guess how much it weighs without a length or any measurements. Unless you have seen a 6lber that was weighed then you have no idea how big a 6lber is. _________________ Never Stop Learning |

After taking a look at a photo of the three pound, 14 ounce largemouth bass that I caught at Winchester Lake the other day, I'd change my guess to pushing five pounds. But who really cares? It was definitely a nice fish. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

I'd say 5 or 5 1/2. At least you got new PB! Congrats!
Start carrying a measuring tape and scale. Many on here have learned to finally start doing it. |
