After fishing Bunnells Pond I moved on up along the upper areas of Beardsley Park on the Pequonnock. Water was clear and had lots of sun shining.
First stop was where I have been hitting the panfish. No followers there on the FLR-6 and HJ-6.
Kept on moving upstream to find fish and came to a spot where I saw sunnies and a few yellows roaming around. Caught a keeper 9" yellow with the HJ-6.
Later I moved farther up almost to the bend and saw a nice rainbow in the water! I was desperate to catch it and concentrated on hunting for it for almost 2 hours! It was looking for a tiny snack on the bottom cause it wouldn't hit the HJ-6 or a hot mustard muddler X-Rap XR-4 so I threw a variety of soft plastics and worked them very slow on the bottom. The only 3 soft plastics it quickly hit only once were a 1" hot pink tube, 1" brown crawdad, and orange Trout Magnet. I could also tell that the trout was line shy cause everytime the line from my light action setup would drift by it it would swim a bit away fast.
I finally gave up and hit the road by 3pm. |

Chartreuse and pearl whites it wasn't interested in. It seemed to be paying more attention to somethings based on a crawdad, centipede, or shrimp. |

I wouldve dug in the woods for a worm. Mustve been a real smart rainbow especially if he survived majority of the summer and all of spring. _________________ YouTube Channel: NorthEastFisherman |
