Member sbehuniak09 (Stephan) and I hit a small pond in the woods before going to the Naugy. Fished from 2pm til 4:30pm.
Stephan played with mostly spinnerbaits while I tried topwater.
Stephan was into it pretty soon with his spinners. It took me a while to get a bass to hit a Tiny Torpedo.
The topwater bite wasn't on for both of us like we thought it would be, probably because of time of day.
Stephan also tried throwing a wacky Senko and I switched over to a yellow perch Flat Rap FLR-6.
When we got to a shallow area with plenty of trees in the water, I spotted a few largemouths. A retrieve that had them going was constant light twitching with a short pause. That was with the FLR-6. Stephan tried a similar retrieve with his Senko but they weren't too interested in it.
Once I got the FLR-6 stuck on a branch in the water, both of us headed back to the car.
Took a quick look nearby to Fountain Lake and saw a few bass in weedy marshy areas. Both of us missed out on a few and I hit a small pickerel.
Total bass at the small pond was Stephan with 4 and me with 6. All were your usual 10 to 13" cookie cutters. |

I caught one 10" bass and Michael caught about a 13" or so Pikeral. We were only there for a little bit. _________________ The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad. ~A.K. Best |
