Hit up hatch today with my brother. Got a later start then I wanted to and got there around 730. It was still cloudy out. Fishing was hot until the sun came out prob before 9. I picked up 4 bass in like 15 min and my brother got one plus some missed fish on topwater. All dinks though nothing over like 10 or 11". Sun came out too early for my liking and everything died. Over the next 4 hours or so I think I only got one dink on an ozmo pitched into a hole in the weeds. My brother got a sunny on a nightcrawler drop shotted. Even that died out later on. Tried deep shallow, pads, thick weeds, etc and not much happening. 2 guys in another boat came out the exact same time as us and said they only got sunnies and 2 crappie. Toward early afternoon we trolled around some and I was getting hits ona grub but couldnt hook any or only hook briefly. Prob sunnies. My brother got a crappie on a vibrax spinner. over deep water trolling.
Figured wed head in since it was dead but I said lets try the area near the ramp that this morning we got all the fish. Sure enough we found some there. I was using a texas rigged senko and they were smashing that. Missed a bunch but got in 2. Also my brother had a few nice hits on top but nothing brought in. I wanted to work the area more but it was geting late already so we packed it in around 230. Boy you sure cant beat those cloudy days in mid summer. The water today got up to an incredible 86!!!! It was like bathwater out there. Crazy. |
