Launched our kayaks today at 2pm. Wind was about 7-10mph and it was party cloudy at about 90 degrees or more. My friend caught a largemouth within 5 mins after paddling through the canals. We kept on fishing and he caught about 3 more on his green twister tail. Each fish was about 12'' or so and probably 1-2lbs. After watching him pulling in several fish within an hour i was starting to get jealous. We pulled up on shore to stretch at about 4. Kept fishing around the same spot and got some more 12'' largemouth. We paddled under the bridge into the pond on the other side and had some hits and lost a 3ish lb largemouth at the boat. I still havent caught anything yet. I got a call from my mom at 5ish saying it was extremely windy, cloudy, and thundering in newtown so we decided to get on shore quickly and hide under some trees and let the storm pass by. My friend flipped his kayak so his stuff wouldnt get wet but most of my stuff was under the hull of my kayak and i didnt want to spend 10 mins packing my stuff up to get it out of the kayak so i can flip it. I decided to cut some branches and use the leaves as a cover to the inside of my kayak. Waited about 30-45 minutes for bright skys. Once the storm passed it was like a new day. Absolutely no wind, mist on the water, bright sky, and quiet wilderness. We spent about 20 minutes drying our equipment off and entered our kayak at about 6:20pm. I accidentaly tipped my kayak far enough to get about a centimeter of water in and had to dry everything off again. Got back to fishing at 6:45 and started in a shallow part of the lake. I got back to back to back largemouth all about 14'' on my first cast. I was using a orange twister tail. I kept fishing the same spot for the rest of the day and got a total of about 8 largemouth. My friend got about 6-8 largemouth as well. Overall it was a great day and i had lots of fun. It definitaly beats sitting at home reading the post from you guys catching fish! I might be heading out tomorrow at another pond with my mind set on pickerel and bass!
