Went out to the Watch Hill area last night with a buddy of mine (Yes, RI but you can see CT). The rain and forecast kept just about everyone away . Night ended up being beautiful. Did a lot of casting with a few plugs and bucktails while we soaked some baits as well. Dogfish were hitting all our chunk bait. Eels went untouched. I did land one striper on a bunker head-1/3fish that sent me scrambling through a boulderfield trying to keep up with its run. Nothing like a nice boulder hop at night on slick rocks to keep it interesting. My buddy was laughing 'cause everytime I jumped to a dry rock my spikes sent out sparks. Turned out to be a relatively small fish, maybe at the limit but I wasn't measuring. Two guys showed up about midnight, minutes after I released the striper, to whom we claimed not to have had a nibble all night. They had freshwater rods, 4lb. test and penny sinkers. After they lost two rigs on two casts, we conviced them they might have better luck, or at least not lose all their gear, if they headed to one of the nice sand bottom areas. All told, a fun evening. I even got 2 hours of sleep before my kids were up. _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.
