So we hit the thames on saturday.Beautiful morning low incoming tide, not the best. But I still had faith . We started marking bait right away most of which were peanuts (tons of them) We went up near the 2a bridge into some of the coves and caught some snappers 5 -6 inches. threw some in the livewell for bait just in case. Headed up river and saw more peanuts and some thrashing, so i threw in a snapper and got an instant hookup. my friend threw a bloody bunker stickbait by Gags and hooked up too. we were getting the harbor blues 1-3 lbs then he hooked a nice striper 27"
We moved up further to the harbor and marked bunker ,snagged a few and had a couple large fish follow.we live lined and chunked with no results.
We headed back down the river as the tide changed tried a few spots with the baits and got nothing.so i put a couple of my Madkey rigs in and got a few more blues with the wire tube green and orange.
the water temps never changed much, holding at 73. we left early afternoon.
I haven't seen this much bait in the river before and think the fishing will be awsome in early fall.
