Member GKolyagin (Genna) and I hit the Reef Sunday evening. Got out there around 6:45pm with low tide scheduled for 7:23pm.

Nothing was happening on the surface this time except for snappers. I tried casting with the chrome Skitter Pop SP-9 on both sides and Genna tried throwing an Atoms but no luck.

Genna had no luck with a silver Flat Rap FLR-10.

I was into sea robins pretty soon while doing that jerk and pause retrieve with the olive green Clackin Minnow CNM-9 like that other time. One bigger sea robin broke the lower part of the wire leader when it shook so I lost the Clackin Minnow.

Genna threw a glass ghost XR-10 out there and did the same retrieve which had sea robins going too.

Later we went over to the Bridgeport side. No topwater action there the whole evening. 2 lures I played with other than the Skitter Pop were a spotted minnow Saltwater X-Rap SXR-10 and flake blue sardine Max Rap MXR-13. Stuck with the jerkbait retrieve. Genna never saw any swirls on his Atoms and stuck with the Clackin Minnow.

I caught a bunch of sea robins and 2 fluke with 1 being a 16" keeper. Also foul hooked 2 spider crabs.

Genna was hitting the sea robins hard too with 1 being a monster that did 1 short run on him with 12 pound mono.

2 other catches that we were very surprised about were a 10" and 12" porgy! We never even thought that a porgy would hit a minnow plug! The 12 incher did a short run like the sea robin did.

We headed back in around 9pm.

All in all we got a combination of fish with 3 keepers[/url]

Second Porgy was actually 13.5 inches. I also lost my atom atomizer buy caught it with another lure 30 minutes later haha. And fishing kid are you the one that gave me some light?

Surprise surprise!

Surfcastin on old lyme the other day first thing in the morning
got this bad boy on a 7inch live snapper blue

Massive sea robin. Hit with some force! sounded the bait runner and everything. These are actually great eating too. White meat, little chewier consistency.

As far as porgies go, idk if its the rigs we make or the location, but my parents come back with a cooler full of em every weekend. Usually around a dozen and a half, and they don't keep anything under 16inches... I'll get a picture next time for any skeptics.

Sea robins have been feeding like crazy this summer and they've been thick! This is the first time in who knows how long I have seen such big heavy sea robins compared to normal!

I had 1 day at the Reef where I caught close to or over 20 all with a Flat Rap. That day I was getting up to as many as 4 others following the one I had on and having another sea robin take over after losing the one I had on.

Don't let negligence of the law cost you!

It still counts and it will COST YOU!
