Thursday I headed down to Seaside Park and started off at the Fayerweather jetty. Got there around 3:30pm with high tide for Black Rock Harbor scheduled for 6:10pm. Winds were a steady 10 to 15mph west wind with skies mostly sunny. Setup was the 7 footer.
Lures I threw included glass ghost Clackin Minnow CNM-11, original pearl shad Flat Rap FLR-10, bleeding pearl Jointed J-11, smelt BX Minnow BXM-10, glass ghost X-Rap Shad Shallow XRSH-8, Storm Jointed Minnow Stick, silver shad Jointed Shallow Shad Rap JSSR-7, and blue sardine Saltwater X-Rap SXR-10.
As tide was still coming in, I worked the Black Rock Harbor side. Caught a 14" fluke with the XRSH-8.
Once tide got high enough, I casted on the side facing the open. Lost a sea robin with the XRSH-8. Nothing else after that, even with the JSSR-7.
Next stop was the boat ramp and caught a sea robin there with the XRSH-8.
Later at the turn of the tide I went to Breezy Point. A few chunkers were there getting an occasional sea robin. I had no luck with divers.
Last stop was Remington. It was loaded with snapper people so I didn't spend much time there.
Hit the road around 7pm.
Site member junkie (aka Jose) texted me telling me that this high pressure effecting us right now has made the fishing slow and quiet. NWS saying the high pressure won't be leaving til next Wednesday. |
