Went down to Calf Pasture Beach for the 6th or 7th time this season, and once again got skunked. Had a consistent fresh chunk of bunker out there on one rod, an array of plugs, spinners, bucktails, and soft plastics on another, and sandworms both floated and sunk at different times on the last.
I was there for the last two hours of incoming tide and first two hours of low and got two small hits on the sunk sandworms, but absolutely NOTHING else. The pier is still closed thanks to Hurricane Irene (and the lack of available funding to fix it), so I've been stuck to the shore and the sandbar. I've almost given up hope, but I'd still rather stand on the sandbar soaking lines than sit at home watching tv. The only company I had was this starfish and the occasional seagull eyeballing my plug.

I've seen people at Seaside Park catch starfish on sandworms |
