Gentleman,
How do you secure your BA$$ Boat?
I have a few road trips (vacation) plans coming up and I'm looking into ways of securing the boat so no you goes shopping.
I've done some home work, I found the bars that go across the deck. They don't work, you can easier pull on the center and pop them off. Plus I'm not to happy about drilling some many 2" hole in my boat.
One idea I have is to purchase a car alram like the one on my truck. I have a Compustar alarm, range is great 3000'.
I can use it for motion detection (if anyone climbs on the boat). Plus I can hook up the door, hood, and truck sensors for the deck compartments (using small magnet switches). Someone opens a compartment the alarm goes off.
Does anyone have any better idea's?

Radio shack used to make a a type of door alarm system, that used a 9v battery at each door, and a magnet. When the door was opened, it lets out a very high pitched squeeling alarm. Years ago, we used them as temporary door alarms in our existing Alzheimers unit, when the building was under construction.
You could probably use double sticky 2 sided tape to secure them each night.
Your alarm system sounds better, but more wiring to do.
A claymore wired to each compartment door would also do the trick, but that would be the end of your boat as well, so not such a good idea I think. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

Walgreens makes little 7 dollar shriek alarms. You can set them yourself and place them inside your tackle wells.
They are loud and battery powered.
They alarm motion detector alarms. If someone opens the wells they will sound.
Or you can just sleep in your boat with a mosquito net over you. That should work. _________________ The King of Long Island Sound. |

All very good ideas.
When booking my rooms with the hotels I told them I need a room on the first floor facing the parking lot with easy access.
They asked if I was handicapped, I said no but the motherF**CKER that touches my boat will be..
The guys laughed and said I should have known.
I like the dog idea best, but the clean-up might be an issue. _________________ Sleep...Eat...Fish!!!!! Then do it all over again. |

Honestly the best way to protect your boat would be :

go with a chow chow. A pitbull can be defeated with just about anything that is edible, a chow chow wont care what food you put in front of it , they rather bite a person. _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

if you don't have locking compartments on your boat I would put keep anything valuable in your car or a lock box that sits on a roof rack. No matter what you do a an experienced thief will find your weak spot. Look into insurance for your gear maybe or bring the most expensive stuff inside your room? Good luck. _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

My wife purchased us a fishing trip from BPS to Hershey PA. A few lakes near by. We also go to Lake Winnipesaukee for a week. _________________ Sleep...Eat...Fish!!!!! Then do it all over again. |
