I work third shift, so once I get out in the morning I'm often down to throw a few casts into this little local hole I've found. Went this morning with a buddy of mine who just started working the graveyard shift himself.
Only stayed a half hour. Dark skies, light rain. Air temp around 60. Threw my buzz bait out and on the first cast it got hooked into some wire fencing that was jetting off the cement dam so I lost that. I wasn't the only one though, someone else lost a rapala on the same fencing haha. I will end up getting both of those lures, rest assured. So then I tied on a Big 8ight worm, rigged with 3 weedless hooks; colored red. Caught three bass in that half hour.
First was a nice 2 lber. Second maybe weighed a half a pound, haha, little runt. The third one hit like a brick. Gave me a great fight, showed itself by giving me a little jump and head shake. Got it in and it was my PB for the year (maybe last year too). Nice bass around 4lbs.
My friend was miffed because he hadn't caught anything yet. He first tried a frog hopping it across the water. Then some kinda worm rigged texas style...but it didn't look very great. He decided to throw on a silver/white spinner with a hint of chartruse and ended up landing a 2.5lber.
So, fun short trip. 4 bass including my PB in a half hour. All after an excellent breakfast. What a morning _________________ Keep 'em hooked and get 'em in the boat! |

Good stuff. I should go fishing before I go to work @ 7am but I would probably never get there on time or at all |
