After fishing the 2 ponds in Trumbull I headed down to the upper part of Beardsley Park along the Pequonnock.
Worked a few areas with the brown trout X-Rap XR-4 and caught a 7" yellow perch. Also tried throwing a perch Rebel Pop-R around weeds and structure but no luck.
Made a stop at my usual crappie spot at Bunnells Pond but no signs of crappie.
Went to the Wonderland of Ice but had no luck with the XR-4.
Last stop was Glenwood Park. On one of my first casts under the tunnel, I get a hit and set the hook. Felt like a nice fish because it was tugging on my 6 pound test. Right as I start to loosen the drag, the line snaps.
The fish felt like a schoolie. Water was running on the Pequonnock enough to let stripers up the the freshwater tidal section.
Casted a yellow perch XR-4 under the tunnel to eventually get the lip broken. Same thing happened with a glass ghost XR-4.
Hit the road around 6:45pm. |
