My son had a soccer game in Plainville last night so on my way home from work I stopped at Paderewski Park to fish for about an hour and a half before the game started. It looks like a well traveled area and it seems like it gets a lot of shore fishing pressure. I worked my way clockwise around the pond. I got a couple of taps from some sunnies but I only had two good bites. The first one was just off a laydown. I threw a wacky senko and almost immediately got a hit. I fought it for a couple of minutes and knew it was a good size fish as my drag was working to keep up with the fish. I got it to shore and was very happy to see a 19" - 3lb 4oz LMB
I worked my way around the rest of the pond and as I got close to the last cast of the day I got another hit and it felt bigger than the other fish. I couldn't believe it. It started pulling down hard and I couldn't wait to get a look at it. The water is murky so as I pulled it in I saw a big round ball and figured I had a fish along with a crapload of weeds. Just then I realized I had a good size snapping turtle on the line. I tried for a few minutes to get the hook out without pulling it out of the water. I finally had to break it off because I wasn't going to mess with that thing. The shell was about the size of my steering wheel in the car and its head was pretty big. I didn't feel like getting bit. |

What do the signs at Paderewski Park say about boating there? _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

All of the signs say to leash your dog and pick up their poop...no one around there can read apparently...lol. As far as boating goes...I didn't see that it said you couldn't. There were a couple of boats tied up on the water so I'm assuming it is OK. I wouldn't mind checking it out in a yak. |

From what I've heard small boats with trolling motors are allowed, yaks for sure. Nice catch! I've fished plenty from shore there and never pulled in a 3 lber _________________ catch and release |
