Greetings...
So my brother finally convince me to get a fishing license this year, my first one in over a decade.
Growing up I would spend maybe 10 minutes fishing then get bored and end up swimming. so after a month of hounding my brother got me to get a license for opening day to hang with him. Well since I paid 10 bones for this receipt looking thing I figure I will get my money's worth and fish a little on my own.
I am becoming quite fond of this sport and looking to become more knowledgeable one the subject. I have found many sites with great archives both video's and text articles. I figured I should jump on a local board like this to get learn more of course and hopefully find some others around the Meriden area that wouldn't mind showing someone new the ropes.
So far I've been fishing Black Pond with soft plasitc lizards and minnows which has yielded me with many chain pickeral and one crappie. Cool for me since I never fish and it's all new and I could use the practice.
So yeah...new to site...new to fishing....and just saying hey...
anyone around my area give me a shout!! I am heading out to black pond again today sometime after 4:30 and won't leave till the sun goes down. |

Welcome to the site, the edit tab is on the top right corner of your post I believe. But don't sweat it, there are plenty of people who can't spell for beans on this site, or fragment sentences like crazy, including me.
Are you a shore or boat fisherman? If you have a boat, you would be much better off fishing Beseck Lake, right around the corner from black pond, and the fishing is much better there. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

no edit button....might have to have x amount of posts or something first?
/shrug
no boat yet. My mother was talking about giving kayaks for Christmas. I might opt for the cash and put more in for something better.
been watching craigslist.. a few good bargains but I don't have the cash. My first child is due in September and were saving up for my wifes time off.
If I wait till winter, prices should go down and I will be able to pool Christmas money. |

Sometimes you can find a deal in the small papers like the journal or yankee flyer. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

thanks all for the warm welcome. I figured out the issue with the edit button.
It appears the site does not like mozzila and is best suited for internet explorer. |
