Here's the March 21, 2013 Notice to Recreational Fishermen from the DEEP, too:

The Striped Bass Bonus Fishery Program is still in effect for 2013. Whoo hoo! _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

I figured you'd be excited about the Enhanced Opportunity Shore Angler Program, Michael.

I was very happy last year with the EOSAP Phil. On Penfield Reef and at Seaside Park I caught many fluke from 16 to just under 18 inches Delicious flavor baked in the oven!
If I remember correctly, the regular marine (boating) fluke regs used to be 18.5 inches and 2 fish.
Last year while fishing the Reef with Genna (GKolyagin), he landed 2 legal EOSAP porgy. One was a perfect 10 inches and the other was 10.5. We were surprised they both came on a Rapala. |

I was kinda bored and took a look in these and noticed you can keep 50 american eel per person. Is there that many to catch? Or are they just trying to lower the species population or something? |

I don't know the answer to your question, but my guess is that six+ inch eels (that's eels, not heels! ) aren't targeted by many people. Who eats eels, anymore? Baby eels (aka elvers), though, are very sought after and expensive. pikePERSUADER1 (aka Dan) posted this link on facebook:

I hate that striper voucher thing. Like people are really going to mail it in! They will keep it with the fish until they get home home and then go back out with it again until they catch another and on and on! There goes the striper population again!!!! You really should call the DEEP Tip Hotline at (800) 842-4357. We shouldn't let a few idiots ruin the fishery for everyone else. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

i wish they would post the commercial regulations right alongside the ones we have to follow. imo if we got rid of the fishing trawlers in the sound we would have fish jumping into our boats. _________________ i'm a castaway with no fishing pole, and the fishing hole is just a cast away |

nacho grande that link mentions wire leader produces better in certain situations and i agree. i use wire leaders now when fishing Texas rigs at night and have experienced a significantly better hookup to bite ratio. _________________ i'm a castaway with no fishing pole, and the fishing hole is just a cast away |
