I had some daylight to kill so I decided to hit up the Naugy from 630-830 pm.
It was a rather productive night with catching 2 Smallies, one being around 1 lb, 3 smaller sized trout (all brookies), handful of golden shiners, and what I believe could have been a blue back herring? It was about 14" long and had big silver scales with a blue back.....never caught one before
All fish were caught on a silver pheobe.....I left my phone in the car so no pics today |

Sounds like a good evening of fishing! Where exactly did you go, I live in Seymour but have never really fished the Naugy much. |

Yeah, I'm thinking it was a shad now that I did a bit of research. |

I finally will have some time this afternoon so I'm going to get my kayak out on the Naugy in Seymour. I'm going to launch under the bridge near the church. Hopefully I'll find some smallmouth. I'll post back later. |

The Naugy has really become a great smallie fishery in recent years. I have never fished the area you mentioned but know it well as I grew up in Seymour. But i have had good luck in Beacon Falls and Derby as well. |

Thanks for the tip. I grew up in Seymour but never fished that area of it. My son and I hit it Saturday evening and Sunday morning.......wading the River. Caught and released 17 Smallies. What a blast. |
