Hi!
Well I went to Mt. Tom for the first time tihis year!
Was a tourney going on and there where a lot of fishermen on the ice.
Still I found an open spot straight out from the parking lot in 22 ft. of water.
Very cloudy and No wind!
Set out my 2 slammers and a jigging hole.
Fished from 11:30 to 2:00
Was trying for the Atlantic Salmon they stocked!
Fished 8 to 10 ft. down with goldies on the 2 slammers.
Tourney ended at 1:00 and I got my only hit of the day on a slammer at 1:30
Rod was bent over and jumping like crazy!
Took me 12 minutes to get the fish to the hole and had to dip the pole down the hole a number of times each time the fish ran hard on me.
Got the fish to the hole and his head just up into it when my line snaped !
YES! It was an Atlantic Salmon -> and pretty good size as its head filled the 6" hole.
Can't complain as it was a good fight and I would have released it anyway!
When I left Mt. Tom it was starting to drizzel and it started to freez on the roads.
BLACK ROAD ICE -> Glad to have 4 wheel drive.
Glad I went!
Best regards,

Sounds like a nice fish you lost SD. Never been there but would like to go soon. I've heard there is salmon there in other earlier posts but it isn't listed in the book as having any. Is this new for this year? Also How much ice were you drilling through? _________________ Its a whole lot more than just being "LUCKY" |

Hi JW!
Well that was 4 days ago before the rain and warm temps.
Drilled thru 8-9 inches that day!
Couldn't tell you what it is now!
Give it another day or so.
I'd say it should be fine by Sunday.

Yes sir they stocked 1100 2-5 pound alantic salmon in the Shetucket river and the Naugatuck river and a additional 200 into crystal lake and mt tom. From what I gather they were stocked in oct.I have heard plenty of stories of them coming out of crystal lake. I hear about a bigger and bigger one everytime i go in that bait shop.. |
