I had a little free time, about an hour, to do some fishing. I grabbed my ultralight trout rod and two lures and headed down to the Gulf Pond to try for some snapper blues. There wasn't too much action overall. I had some hits on a small crappie jig I was using but only three hookups, and the fish were pretty small so I let a few go and let a few just wiggle themselves off. I had one nicer one, more on the taylor side, but the teeth severed the line. I kept two small snapper blues and fried them up with panko bread crumbs.
Highlight of the evening is a guy showing up with sandworms and a surf casting rod and keeping 14" striped bass. A certain demographic of people will tell you that they need these fish to survive, but driving around in a nice Audi with a legit rod and an elaborate plan to hide the fish does not really bolster that image. When I left, a game warden was on the way. Hope they nailed the guy. |

People need to abide by the law, this freaking pisses me off, |

Did you bother to let the warden know about that? If you did not which means you were his accomplice.

I think the word your looking for is negligence, accomplice is a pretty strong word considering he didn't know the person nor did he engage in helping him break the law.

| How would I know that the game warden was on the way if I didn't call? I am a DEEP volunteer and I have given lots and lots and lots of my time to the organization, so no, I am not an "accomplice" to poaching. I am glad you are willing to voice strong convictions though. Please call the TIPS line if you have any concerns about illegal activity. The dispatcher will ask for information about the incident taking place and some basic details. You will not speak to an officer directly. There are not many officers but they do their best to get around, please don't get discouraged. Thanks for your concern. |
