There were people ice fishing across from the power plant at Wrights Cove when it exploded they said the ice heaved and cracked. The fireball was higher the the stacks at the plant. It's horrible have people killed and injured just doing their jobs. We heard the explosion and felt the house shake in Westbrook I can only guess what it was like in Middletown and Portland. |

Hi Guys!
Well one of my fishing buddies that went with me yesterday up to ONOTA Lake, Ma. to fish for smelt is the Superintendent for O&G and left the building 1 minute before it exploded.
Told his son a fire ball went right pass him but he didn't get hurt.
He's still there right now checking to make sure all his crew is accounted for.
He's an ex Marine and Viet-Nam vet as I am.
We never leave a man behind

Very unfortunate for sure. My brother and sister in law live in Middletown, and said their house shook. They went out the front door and looked around, but didn't see anything and then heard about it from a phone call a few minutes later. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

Terrible news indeed. Heavy heart for those who lost loved ones.
I heard the blast over in Plantsville, which is nestled between Cheshire and Wolcott!!! That is a WAYS off!!
Have in-laws family in Higganum, said the blast knocked schidt off the shelves. |

I was fishing on millers pond, I could have sworn a propane truck blew up no more than a half mile from the pond. I was amazed when I got home to hear it was in middletown. The noise was incredible and we could see the smoke blowing around |
