A new state record was netted by the DEEP at Saltonstall while they were doing research back in 2010 or 2011. Was released back into the water.

This is a bit off task, but I was wondering what the state record for the Bluegill is cause last summer I caught about 5 hugeeee bluegills with my friend with the biggest caught by my friend being big enough to put two fingers in its mouth. They were slamming blue and black spinnerbaits. I mean it was probably half as long as that calico maybe a bit more, but we released it not thinking it could have maybe been a state record. I mean I've seen you Michael catch some lunker bluegills, but this one was soooo big and fat.

Hi,

State Bluegill record on page 21 -> Ct. Angler's Guide.
As are other freshwater fish records.

i don't have a good scale, but that one was over 16 inches. i caught a larger one at Job's pond in Portland that was just under 20" but that was before i owned a camera.

sorry Jimichanga for the late reply. We have caught all our bowfin with nightcrawlers on circle hooks. BTW I may try for some at Keeney Cove tomorrow.
