A buddy and I will be taking the boat out to the Hollow later today. I will be sure to report back with our findings.
Im primarily a Senko guy, he is a cranker, but as of late he has been throwing more and more rubber worms out there in leu of my "luck".
I like Mansfield a lot, we've had great success in the past. Usually we try and get out there before sunrise but we switched this one up.
Everyday when I get out of work I stop at the CT River, they have been feeding like crazy just before the sunset, no matter the weather etc. When it is half dark, they pretty much stop, it is literally when you can see half the sun that they are biting every cast. So we thought we try this out on a lake now (except we will likely stay until 10 or 11 p.m..
Wish me luck, Ill be sure to report. |

Yeah, at dusk you get about a half hour window when the fish feed heavily, the bait has already started stacking up in the coves, and the next month should be very productive for fishing the CT river! -Dan |

Well, that one cloud over the state nailed us. We were already by the dam when it snuck up behind us and we got stuck in a monsoon.
I was not expecting rain in the slightest, left all rain gear in the truck. . . . Damnit. hahaha
Doesn't help that his motor was dead so we trolled our way over there, took about 45 minutes to get back to the tunnel in the driving wind and rain. Nothing to do but stand there and take it. . It was f*%$# cold!!!!
On yet another hilarious note (Nobody is going to believe this, but its true); In the middle of the rain there was a rainbow that appeared to end some 30' from us, I casted into it and caught a little smallie. It was the second of the day (3 hours), and made for a good laugh.
9/1/12 - Mansfield Hollow (South End)
4pm-7pm
74 degrees at 4pm
Barometer 30.01 and falling
Cloud cover 50% then driving rain
Two Smallmouths - both 11", <1lb - both on Gary Yamamoto Senko (5" Black /no flake)
Both in approx 6-10' water, one in weeds
Some small nibbles elsewhere
Debating where to redeem myself Monday. . . |
