Looking for a Open Year Around trout spot around Danbury to take my Dad. I been going out with my friend and catching small stuff and my pops porposed he wanted to catch a trout and considering the weather besides the snow last night. I thought it would be cool to take him out. I dont really know of any places around here that are open year around that are easy to access cause he has horrible back injuries and cant trek into woods very much. So if you could give me a few hints of easy access year round trout that would be awesome.

Your best bet would be areas along the Saugatuck TMA if you want good access and close to home.

Saugatuck res has nice trout
It actually has nice size of multiple species...

though you need to buy a permit, which IS worth it if you plan to go often

ball pond has trout

other wise the place I pmed you about eventually will turn on

Yeah but my Dad wants to get out early befor he has another surgery and cant for a few months... And I can completely understand it and trying to find him a good spot to get some fish on his line and he had mentioned trout so. Im trying lol..

PHS is right about Ball Pond. I was there one day when the fisheries guys dumped a load of trout right on the boat launch ramp, which is very shallow. A couple of local guys stopped by and threw small spoons for a while. They'd reel in a trout and throw it back, over and over. I think that they tired of it after 30 minutes or so.

One of the members of the Ball Pond Advisory Committee stopped by as I was leaving the pond and was really pissed about the stocking. He had made prior arrangements for the fisheries guys to dump the trout in on the other end of the pond, where the water is deeper. There were dead trout floating up at the ramp.

It's a nice place to throw a spoon or roostertail for some stockies, but public shore access is limited. If you have a non-motorized boat, you can get to the whole pond and see the schools of giant grass carp, which are protected there.

Hopefully your dads surgery goes good. Doc says I need 1 but there is no way I can afford to take time off of work to do that so plug along and take a few pills and deal with it is all I can do.,
