Went to West Thompson this weekend with my son on Saturday and my girlfriend on Sunday. Ended up catching a total of 15 bass in the two days with 11 being keepers, and my son also caught a total of 7 calico trolling.
Majority of the fish were caught dropshoting a yum craw 18 inches off the bottom in 10 to 16 feet of water, the rest were caught on a 4" wacky rigged pumpkinseed senko .Fished from noon to 6pm on Saturday and 4pm until 7pm on sunday .Water temps were in the mid 80's.
Here's a couple of pictures of some of the better fish that were caught

Nice! I’ve been meaning to get my boat out on that lake… thank you for the extra motivation!
Your second picture is a great spot to fish for carp by the way, I caught my PB right there (from shore). They love to congregate in that little eddy on the east shore, north of the dead trees. _________________ PB's:

I’ve heard that the Quinebaug is loaded with smallies, and the dam is on the Quinebaug so I suppose it makes sense! _________________ PB's:

Yeah there are tons of smallies in the lake. Most of them are usually around the 1lb range but every once in a while I get a nice one up around 2.5 or 3lbs. My P.B large mouth out of the lake was 7lbs. I caught that on a popper two years ago.
PECO I see a lot of guys using kayaks here, I think they put in in Mass and come down the river and pull out at the boat launch. Might make for a decent day trip for you. |

Thanks for the recommendation. There are a ton of lakes and ponds in the eastern part of Connecticut that I'd like to paddle and fish. I have the impression that the eastern waters are a lot less pressured than those in the center of the state. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

I think you are right on the money with the less pressure thing. Another good one for you would be Halls Pond it has some really nice bass and panfish in it. |

Before my wife and I had kids, that use to be one of my favorite places to fish. Quite the hike from central CT, but usually worth it. |
