Question.....
I've been on this site since it first started. I've haven't always been able to sign in and post or see what's going on, but when I do; why do people still post Lake X reports?
I'm not picking on any one person or a group of people, just curious as to why people won't say the lakes name.
The odds of another angler finding your honey hole is high. Hell, in my club we share lakes names, locations and even baits and some guys still don't catch the lunker I might have caught there at one time.
There has been times I've fished with another angler on the same boat using the same baits and one guys catching fish and the other guy is not. It could be something as simple as the line, the technique, the scent on his hands (smoker, hand cream, sun screen, etc) just about anything.
I'm interested in knowing how a lake is producing fish, is it dead, thriving, slow, algae bloom etc. I could careless the spot a fish was caught, if I do a good job; I'll find the fish.
Just my $0.02.
Maybe someone can help me better understand the Lake X postings.
Thank you
BTW. I fished cobbosseecontee lake in Maine recently for a week, we just slayed the LMB/SMB in the weeds between 4' fow and 18' fow. You just needed the grass. Used 7" power warm blue flect. They didn't want much of anything else. EXCEPT...! The last day they wanted nothing to do with a worm, everything was caught on a crank bait slow rolled over the weeds.
If I knew how to posts pictures I'd show you a hog of a LMB. Roughly 8lbs. |

Reports titled "Lake X" and "Private Lake" is mostly due to the fishing pressure it gets.
When word goes out with the exact name of the place, people who are able to read the report right away start researching and trying to find that place if they're smart enough, and then they pass the word on to their buddies who will start poaching.
These days on online forums, many people decide to join the site just to see where people are fishing and how the fishing is going, and those idiots don't bother posting reports and sharing advice. Same thing applies to websites of different cultures and categories.
Some people are so smart and sneaky, they'll try to find you fishing or your type of transportation parked nearby if they keep seeing reports from the same place. |

As an example Ron, I was told about a nice place for fishing 2 years ago. When I first started fishing it and started becoming successful, due to my reports of that place to go with my transportation easily visible and also putting up reports of a nearby place, people started coming when the place hardly ever got any pressure. I never titled the name or area of the place; I only gave it a certain name of my own. |

you might not have named the spot in the report but you talked to people you saw on the street. I had a random stranger at the gas station who saw my fishing rod tell me about it. Told me he heard from the kid on the bike. _________________ Trust me. Use waxworms ! |

I never told anybody else except for 2 close fishing buddies who are smart and care.
The guys who told you about the place must have been the smart stalkers I mentioned in the PM.
I also remember seeing 2 certain guys walking together a few times and right away knew it was me.

I'm with you guys, lake x reports are really for pansies lol. Yes it's a pain when suddenly your nice quiet spot becomes more popular, but it will usually fade off eventually. Not everyone is as good a fisherman as you and may not hit them like you do anyways, so post it for real guys. |

I love fishing Lake X, but it's getting far too popular. I fish "The Lake That Must Not Be Named" now. _________________ RNA - It's in my blood.
