After lunch, mep21 (aka Mark) and I decided to schlep our boats and gear down to Lake Basile for some possible frogging action. I was there on May 22 with DirtyDawg10 (aka Derek) and Daryl (aka Daryl), and we caught over a hundred small largemouth bass:

I'm getting tired from posting fishing reports, so I'll make this one short. We were on the water from 1:30 pm to 5:00 pm, landed dozens largemouth bass and had an absolute blast. Almost all of the bass were caught with Zoom Horny Toad frogs on red Gamakatsu 4/0 Offset Shank Worm EWG hooks. I think that Mark might have landed a couple with a Spro frog. Here's a montage of my 22:
Mark lost track of how many he landed, but he landed at least as many as I. All but one of the bass were under two pounds, but the one that wasn't was THE ONE:
Mark's Personal Best largemouth bass is now five pounds, nine ounces!
We ended our weekend fishing extravaganza in the best way; each with a bad case of bass thumb:

BASS THUMB!!!! Awesome, day guys. I miss you all and the Northeast and sadly have yet to put my boat in the midwest waters. However, the fact that my car said it was 103 degrees today makes me think the boat was safer in the warehouse it's in. Take care and keep catchin em!!!!! |

Hey thanks everyone. It was great hooking into something that big for the first time! I think phil and I are addicted to frogging now. Any suggestions for other great places to use a frog at? |
