i was thinking about heading down to the CT river to try my luck at catching Stripers from shore this weekend. But with all the rain im not sure if i want to waste my time driving all the way down there. Is anyone catching anything?

shore fishing is just going to be tough on the rivers due to the higher water but if you can find access then you have just as good a shot as anyone in a boat really. the fish are still around.

I drove around every where last night. Enfield has like two spots around dam, but you still need chest waders. East Hartford/ Hartford is still to high, and weathersfield cove is closed due to high water. Some spots are halfway fishable but the water is so murkey that I don't think its worth it. Plus when u reel in and make it to under water shoreline it becomes snag central unless you top water.
Derby dam has been the best so far this year.

we went fishing today over at the farmington, from a little bit above barts to the mouth in search for some shad, only caught a bunch of herring and some white perch tho, but we did see a couple keeper striper pulled out from people shore fishing right above the boat launch and one pulled out a 38 incher yesterday. the water at the farmington is much better then the CT river, alot cleaner.

If you find shad and herring, you will find Striper. You are also able to buy fresh herring at ct outfitters. It's like 9 bucks for a pack of 3 if you want to use them legally. We used them at the Derby dam and pulled out multiple 30"+ stripers.

They're in there for sure. You just gotta get to em without being swept down river for the rest of your life!
