The Sound School Adult Education and Outreach Education Program
Habitat Information for Fishers and Fishery Managers – IMEP Newsletter
An Information Sharing Format for Fishers and the Inshore
Aquaculture Industry

A Short Note from Tim Visel, Coordinator

The Sound School Regional Vocational Aquaculture Center
October 2013

The Sound School has many Connecticut shellfish and finfish habitat history papers and a growing Senior Capstone project proposal catalog that might be interest to fishers and fishery managers in the Southern New England Region. Many of the papers include shellfish habitat research and fishery history that might be of interest to southern New England recreational fishers as well. Some of the reports will focus upon student research projects and articles. We seek interested Coastal Land Trusts, municipal harbors, Shellfish and Conservation Commission members especially from our 23 sending school district regional to be on this new mailing list.

There is no fee associated with the newsletter and the site is for informational and educational purposes. It is not a blog or active response website, it is a series of planned announcements with an attachment, a report or request for information. Fisher observations are welcome and encouraged, as well as those the charter boat and recreational fisheries.

Comments and suggestions always will be welcome but with a similar newsletter format of The Search for Megalops, The Rise of Blue Crabs in Connecticut, we cannot respond to all questions, but include them as general information areas for the newsletter. A primary list of Connecticut Shellfish Commissioners is our first effort.

If you are already on the Search for Megalops Blue Crab newsletter email list, you will be placed on HIFFM IMEP list – to stay on there is no need to respond.

If you or your organization would like to be placed on the newsletter list, or to be taken off please email Sue Weber at susan.weber@new-haven.k12.ct.

Thanks for your interest.
