Hi,
Chumming is legal here in Ct. during icefishing season.
I use left-over scents mixed in oatmeal and also bottled baits.
I put it in a left-over onion bag with a rock and lower on a string it to the depth I want.
Also I use an old-timers trick of putting 2 alka-seltzer tablets buried in the chum so that it dissolves and bubbles to disperse the chum.
Works very well for pan fish, acts as an attractant as the bubbles shine and shimmer as they rise.
I don't use whole corn as it can get stuck in the fishes intestants !
I do use pureed corn which I freeze in an ice cube tray -> Put 2-3 cubes in the onion bag + rock and send down -> corn cubes will slowly melt and disperse scent.
