Hi!
My next door neighbor has a (private) small old spring fed factory fire pond 50 ft. from my back door which is "Looooooaded with Golden Shiners "
Went out at 1:30 and met their son next to the pond and put in 2 small minnow traps about 3 ft under the ice.
We stated to talk -> Couldn't have been more than 5-6 minutes and checked the 1st trap.
UNBELIVABLE!! -> Had 2 dozen Golden shiners in it. (2 1/2 to 5 inches -> All fat and healty! )
Its now 3:00 PM and I've trapped over 6 dozen Goldies which I have put into my small goldfish pond next to the house.
Now all I need to do is dip up what I need for the day and head out for bigger waters.
I give my neighbor fresh fish and they allowed me to take all the shiners I want
[b]"NOW THAT'S A SWEET DEAL "[b]
Talk about being one "LUCKY" Icefisherman
No bait shortage for me

UPDATE: It's now 4:00 PM (1/14/10) and I've been checking my 2 minnow traps every 1/2 hour.
I now have over 11 dozen goldies -> don't think my small goldfish pond can hold any more!!! |

Hmmmmm, sounds pretty familiar. Wouldn't be on a road with the word ridge in it's name would it? |

Hi IceMaster!
NOPE Not even close
As I said, it's my neighbors pond (Private).
And I'm not going to screw this sweet deal up in any way, shape, or form
If we do meet on the ice, "I will share", with what I have in my bucket at the time.
Best regards,

No way, don't screw that up. There is a spot just like that not too far from where I am, trapped it, put them in a tank but lost em' all. Total bummer. Good luck out there. |
