Previous record was <15 lbs??? Unbelievable achievement to catch a >37 lb trout. That is one mammoth fish!!!!

It broke the old state record by almost 15lbs...which if my math is correct works out to be 20.02lbs for the previous record.
34.74lb - 14.72lb = 20.02lb  |

Huge fish, reminds me of the one that got away....... did you read the comments below? One guy says " I don't want to diminish his fish but..." he's talking about the color, the little guys have the color. Really??
I wonder what he used to catch it.... I'd be happy for any fish, this year has been a big skunk for me. I wonder if he kept it? I know we just all debated the pros/cons of keeping fish and my opinion was to take a pic and let it go, but a trout that big? One word, 2 syllables.....YUM-MY!!!! grilled with salt/pepper/garlic salt and some lemon with a little olive oil...with some big beefy tomatoe slices and some rice and asparagus perhaps??? A glass of Stonington Seaport White wine!!!! YUM - MY! |

| In my experience the small trout taste much better than the larger ones. The meat is sweeter and more flavorful. I'd say the 15" to 17" range taste the best IMO. Of course I've never tried a 34lb rainbow either...lol |

I agree with DD. The smaller ones seem to taste better.
How old do you reckon this trout must be? I would imagine her geneology will go on for a while in that pool so it wouldn't be a total shame to take the fish out but I would put her back if she's healthy enough to continue life.
